The first voice clinic started at NUH in May 2000 and it offers a detailed examination of vocal cord movement as well as acoustic analysis. Patients are provided with a diagnosis and appropriate management options are discussed including medical, surgical and behavioural options.
Swallowing assessments and rehabilitation are specifically targeted at head & neck cancer patients and ENT-related disorders. In addition to clinical swallowing assessments, instrumental evaluations (videofluoroscopy and fiberoptic endoscopic examination of swallowing (F.E.E.S)) are carried out routinely. The first F.E.E.S service at NUH began at the ENT clinic in 2000.
