NUH has a long history caring for children, from healthy babies to the sickest and tiniest ones. Children are not just small adults. Their problems are more often related to complex congenital disorders, and can significantly affect their growth, development, learning, behavioural and social aspects. They often present with vague or few complaints, and require more time and a child friendly atmosphere for examination, and age appropriate investigations.
We work closely with our colleagues in the Children's Medical Institute, NUH. We understand the importance of working with the child's parents, family, relatives and schools and greatly value the collaboration with our colleagues in the other hospitals, the private sector, and overseas. Situated within this environment of intense research and teaching, the sub-specialty also benefits from multi-disciplinary tertiary expertise provided by our medical, surgical and paramedical departments.
